Comforting the Grieving

I've included on my Reading, Writing & Ruminations page an essay about what to say and what not to say to someone who is grieving over the loss of a child. It's so difficult to know what to say to someone who has experienced such a devastating loss. My point in posting this essay was to help make a difficult situation a little less awkward.

Helen declared....: Good for you, Pryncess, for taking the time and effort to find out what is appropriate.
When my husband died, it was hardest for me when people didn't say ANYTHING! I felt they weren't honoring him by even recognizing the fact that he had died. Silence can hurt more than an awkward word or two that comes from the heart.
