Beatles Censored
In one of the silliest examples of political correctness in years, a poster company has changed one of the greatest album covers in music history. The cover of the Beatles' 1969 album Abbey Road (above) features Paul McCartney holding a cigarette. In a new poster edition of the cover (below), it's been removed. [I've put a red box around the portion of the image in question.]
A spokeman for Apple Records (the label that the group founded) told the BBC: "We have never agreed to anything like this. It seems these poster companies got a little carried away. They shouldn't have done what they have, but there isn't much we can do about it now."
The world is not always a pretty place....thanks to self-proclaimed censors, it will be now!

We are dangerously close to vanilla.
You forgot Huckleberry Finn.... it would do great if it were more pc... no more controversy in our school. Of course, while we're at it, we might as well do Harry Potter...pull out all those nasty references to magic..
Yeah, censorship sucks. The worst part, being what it is, is that you don't even necessarily know. I mean, not being familiar with the album cover, I would have never saw a poster and realized it had been censored.
Kim, And here I am a chocolate gal!
Lucas, Huckleberry Finn??? How was that censored? I wasn't aware of that one!
Since I smoke, I validate myself (but only barely) by pointing out that Vonnegut said "smoking is the only socially accepted method of suicide". Uh, just because Vonnegut said it, not really the thought involved. It's funny though, because weren't people smoking like chimneys back then? Am I off by a decoade or somethin'?
